China Sweeps India 8-0 at ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu

In a stunning display of dominance, China swept past India with a flawless 8-0 victory at the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, on Monday. This decisive win marks China’s second consecutive triumph at the tournament, firmly establishing them as the team to beat.

The hosts showcased their prowess right from the start. In the mixed doubles match, Lin Shidong and Kuai Man took only 15 minutes to dispatch India’s Jeet Chandra and Pritha Vartikar with straight sets of 11-8, 11-2, 11-2, giving China an early 3-0 lead.

Wang Yidi continued the winning momentum in the women’s singles, facing off against Yashaswini Ghorpade. Wang dominated the first two games 11-4, 11-3. However, Ghorpade put up a spirited fight in the third game, leading 3-1 and saving two match points at 10-6. Wang’s experience prevailed as she closed the game 11-8, extending China’s advantage to 6-0.

In the men’s singles, Wang Chuqin took on Snehit Suravajjula in a thrilling encounter. The first game saw Wang overcoming a tight start to win 11-5 after pulling ahead at 5-4. The second game was a rollercoaster, with Suravajjula rallying from 1-4 down to lead 8-4 after a remarkable seven-point streak. Wang regrouped to tie at 8-8 and edged out his opponent 11-9 in the clutch moments, sealing the victory for China.

China’s performance at the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup has been impeccable so far, not dropping a single game against India or Australia in their initial matches. Their commanding form sets a high bar for other teams in the tournament as they continue their quest for championship glory.
