Xinjiang’s Jeminay Port Records 10-Year High in Cross-Border Passenger Trips

Xinjiang’s Jeminay Port, located in the northwest of China, has reached a significant milestone by recording 100,000 cross-border passenger trips this year—a number not seen in a decade, local officials announced on Friday.

As of Friday, the port has experienced a remarkable 250 percent increase in border entries and exits compared to the previous year. On its busiest day, over 700 passengers crossed the border, highlighting the port’s growing importance as a gateway between China and Kazakhstan.

Situated strategically between China and Kazakhstan, Jeminay Port has become a preferred route for cross-border travelers. The port’s convenient customs clearance procedures and efficient services have been pivotal in its success. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the expansion of China’s visa-free entry list, the port is witnessing unprecedented growth in passenger traffic.

“We continue to optimize and address the challenges in customs clearance to propel high-level opening up,” said Yao Lin, a division head at the border inspection station. His statement reflects the port’s commitment to enhancing traveler experiences and fostering international connectivity.

The surge in cross-border trips through Jeminay Port not only signifies the strengthening ties between China and Kazakhstan but also underscores the region’s growing economic vitality. The port’s development is expected to contribute significantly to regional trade and tourism, offering new opportunities for business professionals, investors, and cultural explorers alike.

With its eyes set on the future, Jeminay Port is poised to continue its growth trajectory, further solidifying Xinjiang’s role as a key hub in Asia’s dynamic landscape.
