Mainland University Delegation Explores Cultural Heritage in Taiwan Region
A delegation of students and teachers from seven Chinese mainland universities continued their cultural journey in the Taiwan region on Thursday, marking the second day of their visit to the island.
In the afternoon, the group toured the Lin An Tai Historical House and Museum, a quintessential southern-Fujian-style courtyard originally constructed over 200 years ago. The compound has evolved into a vibrant cultural hub, showcasing southern-Fujian traditions and serving as a beacon for traditional folk culture. Visitors can engage in activities such as first-birthday grab ceremonies and participate in classes dedicated to traditional arts and crafts.
“We witnessed key moments from traditional Chinese rituals,” remarked Peng Yihang, a student from Tsinghua University. “This place serves not only as a platform for cultural education but also as a vital site for preserving Chinese heritage.”
The delegation also visited the Taipei Confucius Temple, immersing themselves in the rich history of Confucian rituals and exploring ceremonial instruments that have been integral to Chinese culture for centuries.
Earlier that day, they participated in exchange activities at a local university, where they were warmly welcomed by students and faculty. The interaction provided an opportunity for both sides to share insights and deepen mutual understanding.
Invited by the Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation, the delegation includes representatives from Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhejiang University, Fujian Normal University, and Beijing Sport University.
