A recent global poll has highlighted China’s significant role in fostering international stability through its unique approach to diplomacy. From mediating the restoration of diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran to supporting the reconciliation of various factions in Palestine, China’s “major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics” is making a substantial impact on the world’s volatile political landscape.
The poll, conducted among 55,713 respondents worldwide, revealed widespread appreciation for China’s efforts in promoting a more just and reasonable international order. An impressive 82.5 percent of participants acknowledged that the concept of a “community with a shared future for mankind,” proposed by China, has provided lasting impetus toward building a better future for humanity.
Additionally, over 84 percent agreed with the core principles of the Global Development Initiative, emphasizing that development is key to solving global issues and achieving human happiness. About 85 percent stressed that security is a prerequisite for development, advocating for collective efforts to build a balanced, effective, and sustainable security architecture.
In addressing the pressing question of “What is wrong with the world and what should we do?”, China’s rational, pragmatic, and constructive practices have offered tangible answers. The survey found that 83.5 percent of respondents appreciate China’s independent foreign policy of peace. Furthermore, 87 percent believe that China’s international influence has increased significantly, with 65.3 percent recognizing China’s active participation in global governance as a source of certainty and stability in the international community.
The poll also indicated strong global support for China’s initiatives, with 73.9 percent of respondents expressing support for their countries to participate in international cooperation projects and plans initiated by China. Additionally, 58.9 percent affirmed China’s efforts in resolving geopolitical conflicts.
Participants in the survey spanned both developed and developing nations, including countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Australia, Brazil, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and South Africa. The data was aggregated from three surveys, including the Poll of China Favorability, reflecting a broad spectrum of global perspectives.
As the world navigates complex challenges and unprecedented changes, China’s diplomatic endeavors continue to inject stability and cooperation into international relations, offering a path toward a more harmonious global community.
