China Condemns G7’s Interference in Sovereignty and Internal Affairs

China’s Foreign Ministry has expressed strong opposition to recent remarks made by the Group of Seven (G7) foreign ministers, criticizing what it describes as interference in China’s internal affairs and damaging rhetoric regarding its sovereignty.

Mao Ning, the spokesperson for the Ministry, addressed the issue on Wednesday, emphasizing that China has consistently maintained a firm and objective stance on matters related to its national interests.

The G7’s joint statement called for a “constructive and stable relationship” with China and cooperation on global challenges. However, it simultaneously demanded that China cease supporting Russia’s defense industry, criticized China’s alleged overcapacity, and issued statements on sensitive issues including the South China Sea, Taiwan region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

In response, Mao Ning urged the G7 to practice what it preaches. “If the G7 seeks a constructive and stable relationship with China, it should take concrete actions to avoid attacking China,” she said.

Addressing the situation in Ukraine, Mao reiterated China’s objective and fair position, advocating for peace talks and a diplomatic resolution. She stressed that China has never provided weapons to any parties involved in the conflict and that it strictly controls the export of dual-use items, including civilian drones. “No third party should interfere with China’s normal trade with Russia,” she added.

On the G7’s claims of China’s “overcapacity,” Mao dismissed the assertions as false and urged the G7 to adopt a fair approach to competition.

She reaffirmed China’s consistent stance on issues related to the South China Sea, Taiwan region, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Mao expressed strong opposition to the G7’s actions that she believes undermine China’s sovereignty and interfere in its internal affairs.

“We urge G7 countries to adhere to the principles of the UN Charter and the basic norms of international relations and to manage their own affairs,” Mao stated.

Mao concluded by calling on the G7 to abandon narrow geopolitical games and focus on contributing to international unity and cooperation. “China, as a responsible major country, is committed to fairness, inclusivity, and benefiting the world through its development,” she affirmed.

The remarks underscore the ongoing tensions between China and the G7 nations, highlighting differing perspectives on international issues and approaches to global governance.
