The Global Supply Chain Promotion Report 2024 was unveiled on Tuesday at the ongoing China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). As the flagship publication of the event, the report offers an in-depth analysis of the latest trends, challenges, and developments reshaping global supply chains.
Providing comprehensive supply chain maps for 11 key industries—including humanoid robots, smart cars, integrated circuits, wind power, coffee, and cotton—the report illustrates the distribution of supply chains across upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors. It highlights the dominant economies and enterprises at each stage, offering valuable insights for businesses and policymakers alike.
Among the key trends identified, the report emphasizes the integration of new technologies and a shift toward regionalization, diversification, digitalization, and sustainability. These developments are reshaping supply chain structures, driving the emergence of new business models, and influencing trade rules to address the evolving dynamics of global commerce.
The growing emphasis on supply chain resilience is also underscored. Countries and businesses are proactively safeguarding critical product flows through increased domestic production and enhanced risk monitoring, aiming to mitigate disruptions and ensure stability.
Ren Hongbin, chairman of CCPIT, remarked that this is the first time such a comprehensive report on global supply chains has been published. He emphasized that the data-driven insights address pressing questions related to global supply chain connectivity and disruption risks, issues of paramount concern to governments and the international business community.
