New Compilation of Xi’s Discourses on Law-Based Military Governance Published

A new compilation of discourses by Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), on governing the military in accordance with the law has been published, marking a significant step in advancing legal governance within China’s armed forces.

The book, released following an official statement on Sunday, collects speeches and written works by Xi from November 2012 to June 2024. It reflects the Chinese leadership’s emphasis on strengthening the rule of law in military affairs to enhance national defense and military capabilities.

The Central Military Commission has urged military officers and soldiers at all levels to study the book thoroughly. Senior officers, in particular, are required to play an exemplary role in respecting, learning about, observing, and applying the laws in their duties.

By immersing themselves in Xi’s discourses, military personnel are expected to enhance their ability to think and act according to legal principles. This initiative aims to accelerate fundamental transformations in military governance and solidify the role of the rule of law in strengthening the nation’s defense.

The publication comes at a time when China seeks to modernize its military and ensure that its operations are firmly grounded in legal frameworks. Emphasizing law-based governance is seen as crucial for maintaining discipline and effectiveness within the armed forces.

The book’s release underscores the Chinese leadership’s commitment to integrating legal governance into all aspects of military operations, fostering a more disciplined and law-abiding military force.
