A new high-speed rail line began trial operations on Saturday, enhancing connectivity between Shanghai Municipality and the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang in the Yangtze River Delta region of east China.
At 9:27 a.m., the first high-speed train on the new line departed from Shanghai Hongqiao Station, heading toward the city of Huzhou in Zhejiang Province via Suzhou in Jiangsu Province. Designed to travel at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour, the train marks a significant milestone in the region’s transportation infrastructure.
The newly constructed rail line stretches approximately 163 kilometers and features eight stations, six of which are newly built. This development is expected to further facilitate economic growth and integration within the Yangtze River Delta, one of China’s most dynamic and economically significant regions.
According to China Railway Shanghai Group, the trial operation of this high-speed railway is scheduled to last around a month. The line is anticipated to be officially launched by the end of December, providing faster and more efficient transportation options for residents and businesses alike.
