Laos and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening military cooperation following high-level meetings held in Vientiane on Friday. Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President, met with visiting Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun to discuss strategic communication and practical collaboration between the two nations’ armed forces.
Emphasizing the unbreakable friendship between Laos and China, President Thongloun highlighted the importance of deepening military ties to enhance regional stability and mutual development. He urged for increased strategic dialogue and joint initiatives to bolster the capabilities of both militaries.
Defense Minister Dong Jun expressed China’s willingness to work closely with Laos to advance pragmatic cooperation and promote the in-depth development of military relations. He underscored the shared interests and goals of both countries in maintaining peace and security in the region.
During his visit, Minister Dong also held talks with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Chansamone Chanyalath. The discussions focused on expanding collaboration in defense training, joint exercises, and other areas of mutual concern.
