Xi Jinping Meets Moroccan Crown Prince, Strengthens Strategic Partnership

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Moroccan Crown Prince Moulay Hassan in Casablanca on Thursday during a technical stop after concluding his state visit to Brazil. The two leaders discussed enhancing the strategic partnership between China and Morocco, emphasizing mutual support and cooperation in various sectors.

President Xi conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to King Mohammed VI, highlighting the sound development of China-Morocco relations. He noted that both countries have witnessed fruitful practical cooperation and vibrant exchanges in various fields. “In 2016, King Mohammed VI paid a state visit to China, during which we held productive talks, bringing China-Morocco relations to a new level,” Xi said.

Xi reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Morocco to firmly support each other on issues concerning their respective core interests. “China is ready to implement the outcomes of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 10th Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum,” he stated, expressing eagerness to deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Emphasizing the importance of cultural exchanges, Xi highlighted the need to strengthen the foundation of goodwill between the Chinese and Moroccan peoples. He expressed hope that expanding cultural ties would advance the strategic partnership between the two nations.

Crown Prince Moulay Hassan conveyed King Mohammed VI’s sincere greetings to President Xi and extended gratitude for China’s support during the COVID-19 pandemic. He affirmed Morocco’s dedication to strengthening ties with China through enhanced high-level exchanges and deeper cooperation across various sectors.

Noting the growing popularity of Chinese language and culture in Morocco, the crown prince expressed a desire to enhance cultural exchanges. “Morocco and China share aligned positions on many issues,” he said, emphasizing Morocco’s willingness to firmly support the safeguarding of national sovereignty, security, and stability.

The meeting underscored the deepening relationship between China and Morocco, setting the stage for increased collaboration in political, economic, and cultural spheres.
