The Chinese navy hospital ship Peace Ark, on its Mission Harmony-2024 voyage, arrived at Algiers Port in Algeria on Thursday for a five-day technical stop. The visit marks a significant moment in Sino-Algerian relations, highlighting the ongoing cooperation between the two nations.
At around 10 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT), the Peace Ark docked gracefully at Algiers Port. The ship’s crew assembled on deck, warmly waving to the crowd that had gathered to welcome them. Algerian military officials, staff from the Chinese Embassy in Algeria, and other representatives were present to receive the ship.
During the vessel’s stay, groups of Algerian doctors and military officers, local Chinese residents, and employees of Chinese enterprises will be invited to tour the ship. This presents an opportunity for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Chinese crew and the Algerian community.
The crew of the Peace Ark will also engage with the local culture by visiting a renowned military museum. To foster camaraderie, they are scheduled to participate in a friendly soccer match with Algerian naval officers, strengthening ties through sportsmanship.
The technical stop of the Peace Ark in Algeria underscores China’s commitment to deepening its relationships with African nations. The Mission Harmony-2024 voyage aims to promote peace, friendship, and humanitarian assistance, reflecting China’s role in international maritime cooperation.
