Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the unique strategic significance and global influence of China-France relations during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the 19th G20 Summit on Tuesday.

President Xi noted that both China and France are independent, mature, and responsible major countries. He stated, “China-France relations hold a unique place in global affairs. Our partnership is crucial for maintaining world peace and stability.”

The two leaders discussed deepening strategic communication and strengthening mutual support to maintain the positive development momentum of bilateral ties. President Xi expressed hope that enhanced cooperation between China and France would contribute significantly to the sound development of China-European Union relations.

Highlighting cultural and educational exchanges, Xi Jinping said, “China is willing to advance high-level exchanges with France and deepen our collaboration in culture, education, and people-to-people bonds.”

Regarding the ongoing Ukraine crisis, President Xi reiterated China’s position on seeking a resolution. “China hopes the conflict can be eased.
