Wuzhen Hosts Presentation on Shared Future in Cyberspace at 11th World Internet Conference

The picturesque town of Wuzhen in east China’s Zhejiang Province became a hub of digital discourse as the World Internet Conference (WIC) hosted the “Release and Presentation of Outstanding Cases of Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace.” Marking its 11th edition, the WIC continues to be a significant platform for international dialogue on internet governance and digital cooperation.

First introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping in December 2015 during the second WIC, the concept of “building a community with a shared future in cyberspace” has garnered widespread attention and recognition from the global community. This vision emphasizes the collective responsibility of nations to collaborate in shaping a secure, inclusive, and prosperous digital world.

“Building a community with a shared future in cyberspace is a concrete embodiment and major practice of the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind,” stated Cao Shumin, deputy chief of the Cyberspace Administration of China, during the event. “It reflects our great interest in the common well-being of humanity and resonates with the shared aspirations of the international community.”

The event showcased outstanding cases and initiatives that contribute to the shared cyberspace future, highlighting innovations, collaborations, and policies that promote mutual understanding and development in the digital realm. Delegates from various countries and regions participated, reinforcing the importance of international cooperation in addressing challenges such as cybersecurity, digital divides, and ethical considerations in technology.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve rapidly, forums like the WIC play a crucial role in fostering dialogue and partnerships. The emphasis on a shared cyberspace underscores the interconnected nature of today’s world, where actions in one part of the globe can have significant impacts elsewhere. By promoting collaboration and shared values, stakeholders aim to harness the potential of the internet to drive global progress and prosperity.
