Chinese “Village Super” Footballers Play Friendly Match with Brazilian Youth in Rio

In a heartwarming display of sportsmanship and cultural exchange, young football players from the “Village Super” team of Rongjiang County in southwest China’s Guizhou Province faced off against Brazilian youth footballers in a friendly match on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The match was ceremoniously kicked off by the President of China Media Group (CMG), Shen Haixiong, and the Chairman of the Ibero-American Council of Sports, Jose Jimenez. The Chinese team, hailing from the Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, engaged in an eight-person football match with their Brazilian counterparts.

Despite the language barrier, the universal language of football bridged the gap between the two groups. Players from both teams demonstrated remarkable skill and camaraderie on the field, highlighting the unifying power of sports.

“This was a brand-new experience for us,” said one of the Brazilian players to CMG reporters. “We hope to have more matches like this with our new Chinese friends.”

The friendly match not only provided an opportunity for cultural exchange but also underscored the deepening ties between China and Brazil through youth sports initiatives. It showcased how grassroots sports can foster international friendship and mutual understanding among young people from different backgrounds.
