China and Argentina Pledge Joint Support for High-Quality Belt and Road Development

China and Argentina have reaffirmed their commitment to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) during a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Argentine President Javier Milei on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday.

President Xi hailed the traditional friendship between the two countries, noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of their comprehensive strategic partnership. He emphasized the strong foundation laid over the past decade for deepening bilateral ties.

Highlighting the complementary economic and trade structures of China and Argentina, President Xi expressed hope that Argentina would seize the opportunities presented by China’s reform and opening up. He encouraged the South American nation to expand its market share in China, leveraging its strengths in agriculture and other sectors.

President Xi also underscored the potential for expanding cooperation in areas such as energy, mineral infrastructure, agriculture, science and technology, and the digital economy. He conveyed China’s willingness to work closely with Argentina to advance mutual development and prosperity.

The meeting between the two leaders signifies a strengthening of ties between China and Argentina, with the BRI serving as a key platform for collaboration. As Argentina looks to enhance its economic growth and development, partnership with China under the BRI framework offers new avenues for investment and cooperation.
