Xi Jinping Arrives in Peru for APEC Leaders’ Meeting and State Visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Lima, Peru, on Thursday for the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and a state visit. His visit comes at the invitation of Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra.

Upon his arrival, President Xi was warmly welcomed by Gustavo Adrianzen, the President of the Council of Ministers, and other senior Peruvian officials. Local students greeted him with flowers and welcomed him in Chinese, while honor guards lined the red carpet.

In a written speech delivered upon landing, President Xi highlighted the long-standing friendship between China and Peru, noting that Peru was among the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties with China.

He emphasized the sustained development of bilateral relations in recent years and expressed confidence that his visit would further elevate the China-Peru comprehensive strategic partnership. He anticipated more fruitful outcomes in practical cooperation across various fields.

President Xi also shared his expectations for the upcoming APEC Leaders' Meeting, stating that China is committed to working with all parties to build an open Asia-Pacific economy, promote global economic growth, and foster an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future.

As President Xi traveled from the airport to his hotel, he was greeted by Chinese expatriates, representatives of Chinese institutions, students, and Peruvians along the streets, all waving Chinese and Peruvian flags.
