SÀO PAULO, Brazil— Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Monday to the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum, which commenced in SÀo Paulo. The forum, co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the Brazil Communication Company, aims to foster collaboration among countries of the Global South under the theme “Development and Revitalization: A New Journey for the Global South.”
In his message, President Xi emphasized the rising momentum of the Global South, noting its increasingly significant role in advancing human progress. “China has always been a member of the Global South and will always belong to the developing world,” Xi stated, reaffirming China’s commitment to solidarity with other developing nations.
Xi highlighted China’s willingness to work alongside Global South countries to practice true multilateralism. He advocated for an equal and orderly multipolar world and emphasized the importance of universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization. “Together, we can build a community with a shared future for mankind,” he said.
Addressing the challenges of global changes unseen in a century, President Xi called on Global South countries to pursue modernization and strive for a more just and equitable international order. He described these goals as sacred historic missions and common issues for Global South media and think tanks.
President Xi expressed hope that participants of the forum would engage in in-depth discussions and build consensus. He encouraged them to jointly amplify the “voice of the Global South” and showcase its commitment to global development. “I urge you to contribute wisdom toward empowering the Global South to become a stabilizing force for peace, a backbone of openness and development, a constructive force in global governance, and a driving force for mutual learning among civilizations,” Xi said.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also sent a congratulatory message to the forum, underscoring the importance of collaboration among Global South nations.
The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum brings together media professionals and scholars from developing countries to discuss shared challenges and opportunities. The event serves as a platform to enhance mutual understanding and promote cooperation in pursuit of common development goals.
