Lin Shidong Advances to WTT Champions Frankfurt Men’s Singles Final

In a dominant performance at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Champions Frankfurt on Saturday, Lin Shidong of the Chinese mainland swept past Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei with scores of 11-9, 13-11, 11-2, 11-8, securing his place in the men’s singles final against Sweden’s Anton Kallberg.

The semifinal match showcased Lin Shidong’s exceptional skill and resilience. The first game was tightly contested, with Lin Yun-ju leading 5-4 early on. However, Lin Shidong rallied impressively, securing five consecutive points to take a 9-5 lead and ultimately clinching the game to go up 1-0.

In the second game, Lin Shidong started strong with a 4-1 advantage, but Lin Yun-ju fought back, leveling the score at 9-9 after a series of intense rallies. Demonstrating remarkable composure under pressure, Lin Shidong edged out his opponent to extend his lead to 2-0.

The third game saw Lin Shidong’s aggressive play overwhelm Lin Yun-ju, as he secured eight consecutive points after leading 3-2, resulting in a swift victory. Although Lin Yun-ju regained his form in the fourth game, keeping the score close at 7-7, Lin Shidong’s relentless attacks earned him three straight points. Despite Lin Yun-ju saving one match point, Lin Shidong sealed the match, confirming his place in the final.

On the women’s side, an all-Chinese final is set, with Wang Manyu and Wang Yidi competing for the title. Wang Manyu defeated her compatriot Chen Xingtong with scores of 7-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-2, 11-5, while Wang Yidi overcame Japan’s Miwa Harimoto 11-5, 8-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7.
