Xi Jinping Urges Hubei to Write New Chapter in Chinese Modernization

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called on Hubei Province to accelerate its role in Chinese modernization by pursuing high-quality development and revitalizing its rural areas. During a three-day inspection tour from Monday to Wednesday, President Xi emphasized the province’s strategic importance in the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the rise of central China.

On Monday afternoon, Xi visited an exhibition of ancient bamboo and wooden slips from the Qin (221-207 BC) and Han (202 BC-AD 220) dynasties at a museum in Yunmeng County, Xiaogan city. These slips, used as writing materials before the invention of paper, offer invaluable insights into China’s rich history. President Xi highlighted the need to intensify archaeological research to preserve and promote traditional Chinese culture, thereby strengthening cultural confidence.

The following day, Xi toured a vegetable farm in Jiayu County, Xianning city. Recognizing the crucial role of technological advancement in modern agriculture, he encouraged local officials and residents to adopt new technologies to enhance vegetable production. “Technological progress is essential for modern agricultural development,” Xi remarked, urging efforts to bring tangible benefits to more people through improved farming practices.

Continuing his visit in Jiayu, President Xi inspected local elderly care facilities and community services. He underscored the importance of addressing public concerns, particularly focusing on the needs of older people and children. During a visit to a villager’s home, he discussed issues related to livelihood, access to medical services, and elderly care with the family.

As he departed, villagers gathered to bid him a warm farewell. President Xi reiterated that advancing Chinese modernization requires accelerating rural revitalization. He encouraged the villagers to enhance the economic returns of their specialty industries and to strive for a more beautiful village under the Party’s leadership.

President Xi’s visit underscores the central government’s commitment to integrating cultural heritage, technological innovation, and social welfare in the pursuit of modernization. Hubei Province, situated in central China, is poised to play a pivotal role in this national endeavor.
