Beijing, China — In a move set to enhance bilateral ties, Italian President Sergio Mattarella will embark on a state visit to China from November 7 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday.
During the visit, President Xi is scheduled to hold talks with President Mattarella to outline a strategic blueprint for the future development of China-Italy relations. According to Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Ministry, Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji will also meet with the Italian leader separately.
“As major civilizations and significant economies, the friendly cooperation between China and Italy rests on a profound foundation of public opinion,” Mao stated during a regular press briefing. “This cooperation serves the common interests of both sides and contributes to the healthy development of China-Europe relations, as well as global stability and prosperity.”
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Italy comprehensive strategic partnership. Mao emphasized that China is prepared to work closely with Italy to strengthen mutual political trust, expand practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and promote mutual learning between civilizations.
The upcoming visit is anticipated to foster deeper collaboration across various sectors, reflecting the enduring friendship and shared aspirations between the two nations.
