Chinese Swimmers Claim Three More Golds at World Cup in Singapore

On an exhilarating second day at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Singapore, China’s elite swimmers added three more gold medals to their impressive tally on Friday.

Pan Zhanle delivered a stellar performance in the men’s 100-meter freestyle final, touching the wall in a swift 46.09 seconds. His remarkable swim edged out Italy’s Thomas Ceccon by a mere 0.16 seconds, while Dylan Carter of Trinidad & Tobago secured bronze, finishing 0.51 seconds behind Pan. This victory marks Pan’s first win in the short-course 100m freestyle after competing in Shanghai, Incheon, and now Singapore.

In the men’s 50-meter breaststroke, Qin Haiyang continued his gold-winning streak by clinching the title in 25.47 seconds. He narrowly defeated Belarus’s Ilya Shymanovich, who clocked in at 25.53 seconds. The Netherlands’ Caspar Corbeau completed the podium, finishing third in 26.16 seconds. Qin’s triumph signifies his dominance in this event across all three World Cup stops.

China’s golden haul was further enriched by Tang Qianting, who dominated the women’s 100-meter breaststroke final with a time of 1:03.10. Tang’s consistent excellence has seen her claim gold in this event in Shanghai, Incheon, and now Singapore. Alina Zmushka of Belarus took silver with a time of 1:04.11, while Italy’s Benedetta Pilato earned bronze, finishing in 1:04.56.

Adding to China’s medal count, Yang Junxuan secured a silver in the women’s 200-meter freestyle. She delivered a strong performance but was outpaced by Siobhan Haughey of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, who topped the podium with a time of 1:51.80. Australia’s Brittany Castelluzzo claimed bronze in this closely contested race.

Yu Yiting also brought home a silver for China in the women’s 50-meter butterfly. Completing the race in 25.05 seconds, Yu finished just behind the USA’s Kate Douglass and ahead of Japan’s Mizuki Hirai, who took bronze.

The event also witnessed France’s Leon Marchand setting a new world record in the men’s 200-meter individual medley, finishing in an astonishing 1:48.88. His record-breaking swim surpassed Great Britain’s Duncan Scott and Italy’s Alberto Razzetti, who finished second and third respectively.

As the World Cup in Singapore unfolds, China’s swimmers continue to demonstrate exceptional talent and determination, contributing to an electrifying atmosphere that captivates fans across the globe.
