Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Visit China for Official Talks

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is set to embark on an official visit to China from October 31 to November 5 at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced on Monday.

During his visit, Prime Minister Fico will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Premier Li will hold talks with Fico, and Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, will also meet with him. The leaders are expected to exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Slovakia. Lin highlighted the vigorous momentum of bilateral ties, noting fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Prime Minister Fico’s visit is seen as an opportunity for both countries to deepen traditional friendship and political mutual trust, expand exchanges and cooperation across various sectors, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Central and Eastern Europe, and elevate bilateral relations to a new level.
