China’s Longest Swivel Road Bridge Completes Final Rotation in Anhui Province

In the early hours of Saturday, the final beam of China’s longest continuous swivel road bridge over a railway was successfully rotated into position in Hefei City, Anhui Province. This engineering feat marks a significant milestone in the construction of a major cross-provincial highway set to boost regional connectivity.

The massive bridge, spanning 554 meters and weighing an impressive 60,000 tons, comprises four continuous beams that elegantly arch over the bustling railroad below. By the end of September, three of these beams had already been carefully maneuvered into place. With the rotation of the last beam, the intricate structural puzzle is now complete.

This multi-part bridge is a crucial component of a highway linking Chuzhou City in Anhui Province with Zhoukou City in Henan Province. The successful installation brings the highway project one step closer to full operation, heralding improved transportation links across eastern and central China.

Upon completion, the highway is expected to significantly strengthen connectivity between Hefei and other major cities, including Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Zhengzhou. This enhanced network is of great significance as it will accelerate Hefei’s integration into the Yangtze River Delta’s integrated development plan, fostering economic growth and regional collaboration.

The project not only showcases China’s advancing engineering capabilities but also represents a strategic investment in infrastructure that will benefit businesses, travelers, and local communities alike. As construction progresses, anticipation builds for the positive impact this highway will have on trade, commerce, and daily life in the region.
