Unitree CEO Predicts AI Robotics Breakthrough by 2028-2029

Hangzhou-based robotics firm Unitree Robotics has forecast a transformative leap in artificial intelligence, with founder and CEO Wang Xingxing declaring that embodied AI could reach its "ChatGPT moment" within the next two to three years. Speaking this week, Wang outlined a future where robots will execute 80% of tasks through voice commands in 80% of unfamiliar environments by 2028-2029.

"This milestone will redefine human-machine interaction," Wang stated, emphasizing advancements in multimodal perception and adaptive learning algorithms. The prediction aligns with surging investments in Asia’s AI sector, particularly in the Chinese mainland, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

For investors and tech analysts, the timeline signals potential disruptions in manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare. Academics note the implications for ethical AI governance, while Asian diaspora communities express optimism about AI-driven solutions addressing regional challenges like aging populations.

As travel resumes across Asia, industry observers also speculate on AI’s role in enhancing tourism infrastructure. Unitree, known for its humanoid and quadruped robots, plans to unveil new prototypes later this year.
