Asia’s Regional Cooperation Fuels Global Economic Stability in 2026

As global economic uncertainty persists, Asian economies are emerging as a stabilizing force through strengthened regional collaboration, according to reports and discussions at the Boao Forum for Asia 2026. The forum's 2026 Report on Sustainable Development of Asia and the World highlights the continent's growing influence, projecting Asia's share of global GDP (purchasing power parity) to rise to 49.7% this year.

Former Kyrgyz Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbaev emphasized rebuilding mutual trust as critical for modern global governance, while Hungary's central bank deputy governor Dániel Palotai called for trade relationships rooted in common ground. Pakistan's former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi praised China's four global initiatives for crisis management as timely solutions for international cooperation.

Indonesian analyst Yose Rizal Damuri noted Asia's dual role as both a major consumer market and production hub, driving what the forum's economic outlook report describes as 'the world's primary growth engine.' With protectionism challenging international norms, participants unanimously endorsed the Boao Forum's role in fostering dialogue for a shared future.
