China Reaffirms High-Level Opening-Up at 2026 Two Sessions

As the 2026 Two Sessions convene in Beijing, Chinese leaders have prioritized advancing high-level opening-up as a cornerstone of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030). The policy framework aims to deepen global economic integration through streamlined trade protocols, enhanced market access, and cross-border collaboration initiatives.

Colin Dai, Asian regional director of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, noted: 'China's commitment to optimizing logistics infrastructure and digital customs systems is reshaping supply chain dynamics. This creates tangible opportunities for European businesses seeking reliable Asian partners.'

Professor Zamir Ahmed Awan, founding chairman of the Global Silk Route Research Alliance, emphasized the strategic timing: 'By aligning its development goals with multilateral platforms like the Belt and Road Initiative, China is positioning itself as a stabilizer in post-pandemic global recovery efforts.'

The proposed measures include expanding pilot free trade zones, accelerating fintech regulatory sandboxes, and establishing new international arbitration mechanisms for commercial disputes. Analysts suggest these steps could strengthen the Chinese mainland's appeal to overseas investors amid shifting global trade patterns.
