Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence Vice President Lin Yonghua has called for sustained international cooperation in artificial intelligence development, stating that open-source collaboration remains critical to addressing both technological and economic challenges. In a recent interview, Lin emphasized that global knowledge-sharing has been the driving force behind AI's rapid advancements through 2026.
"The current trajectory of AI innovation fundamentally relies on our ability to maintain open ecosystems," Lin stated. "Isolated development efforts risk creating redundant systems that waste computing resources and slow progress at a time when economic pressures demand efficient solutions."
Her comments come as governments and tech firms worldwide debate data sovereignty and intellectual property frameworks. Lin specifically highlighted successful cross-border partnerships in neural network optimization and climate modeling as models for future cooperation.
While not directly addressing geopolitical tensions, the remarks underscore China's continued participation in global AI initiatives. The Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence has contributed to several international open-source projects this year, including multilingual natural language processing systems.
