China’s Agricultural Growth Anchored by Reform, Says Top Advisor

The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee commenced its annual session in Beijing this week, with discussions highlighting the transformative impact of China's reform and opening-up policies. Liu Yonghao, a CPPCC member and chairman of agricultural conglomerate New Hope Group, emphasized to CGTN's Aaron Liu that these policies have been pivotal in securing national food security over the past four decades.

"By holding the rice bowl firmly in our own hands, we've turned historical challenges into modern strengths," Liu stated, referencing China's transition from food scarcity to becoming a global agricultural powerhouse. His remarks align with broader CPPCC dialogues on sustaining economic resilience through innovation-driven rural revitalization strategies.

Analysts note that this year's session occurs amid heightened global demand for stable food supply chains, positioning China's domestic production capabilities as a critical factor in Asia's economic landscape. The conference is expected to address technological integration in agriculture and sustainable practices to meet 2026 growth targets.
