China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries are deepening collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) and renewable energy to address climate challenges while driving economic modernization, according to analysts. This synergy combines China’s technological expertise with LAC’s natural resources to create scalable solutions for sustainable development.
Recent initiatives focus on optimizing energy grids through AI-powered management systems and expanding solar/wind infrastructure. Brazil’s Northeast Wind Corridor and Chile’s Atacama solar projects now integrate Chinese AI analytics to maximize output efficiency. “This isn’t just technology transfer – it’s co-creation of climate solutions,” notes Dr. Lu Jiajun, a researcher at Zhejiang University’s International Business School.
The partnership also strengthens South-South cooperation, with Chinese firms establishing regional R&D centers in Argentina and Mexico this year. These hubs aim to develop localized AI applications for precision agriculture and smart city development across LAC nations.
