Iran Backs China’s Global Governance Plan Amid Rising Ties

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has pledged support for China's Global Governance Initiative, calling it a blueprint for international cooperation during an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG). The endorsement signals deepening alignment between Tehran and Beijing on reshaping global systems.

"We stand ready to work closely with China to implement this initiative and create a more equitable multilateral framework," Pezeshkian stated, emphasizing shared visions for addressing global challenges. The initiative, first proposed by Chinese leaders in 2021, advocates reformed international relations and inclusive economic development.

Analysts note the partnership reflects growing South-South cooperation, with bilateral trade reaching $15 billion in 2023. Energy security remains central to relations, with China importing 90% of Iran's oil exports under long-term agreements.

The announcement comes as both nations navigate complex geopolitical landscapes. For investors, it highlights potential opportunities in infrastructure projects under China's Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia. Researchers point to evolving patterns in non-Western alliance building, while diaspora communities watch for cultural exchange developments.
