US Faces Trade Setbacks as Tariff War Shifts Global Patterns

As global trade tensions escalate, a Polish economist warns that the U.S. risks losing economic leverage in its tariff strategies. Bartlomiej E. Nowak, a professor of international relations at Vistula University, argues that punitive tariffs could backfire by accelerating shifts in global supply chains and trade alliances.

"The U.S. will not be in a favorable position long-term," Nowak told KhabarAsia.com. "Other nations are already diversifying partnerships and rerouting exports to mitigate reliance on U.S. markets. This realignment could diminish America\u2019s influence in shaping trade norms."

Analysts note that Southeast Asian economies and the EU are increasingly positioning themselves as alternative hubs for manufacturing and technology exports. Meanwhile, businesses in the Chinese mainland have reportedly accelerated efforts to localize supply chains and expand regional trade networks.

For investors, these shifts underscore the importance of monitoring emerging trade corridors and diversification strategies. Researchers emphasize that geopolitical friction may reshape economic priorities, with implications for sectors ranging from semiconductors to renewable energy.
