SCO Nations Unite on Food Security at Kunming Agricultural Summit

Agricultural leaders from Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states have pledged deeper collaboration to address pressing challenges in food security and rural development during a high-level meeting in Kunming. The two-day gathering in southwest China's Yunnan Province concluded with commitments to share climate-resilient technologies and poverty reduction strategies.

Delegates from over 10 countries and regions, including ministers and researchers, emphasized the need for collective action amid global supply chain disruptions. Sohail Khan, SCO Deputy Secretary General, told attendees: "Our shared future depends on agricultural innovation that withstands climate pressures while feeding growing populations."

The meeting produced a roadmap for enhanced technical cooperation, particularly in drought-resistant crops and sustainable farming practices. Participants highlighted the SCO's unique position to coordinate regional responses to food price volatility through joint research initiatives and cross-border knowledge sharing.
