Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing education systems and fostering cross-border cooperation while amplifying underrepresented perspectives, according to Zhou Qing'an, Dean of Tsinghua University's School of Journalism and Communication. Speaking at the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting in Beijing, Zhou emphasized AI's dual role as both disruptor and enabler in modern society.
"AI transforms passive learning into active creation," Zhou noted, describing how digital classrooms now empower students to produce socially impactful content. However, he stressed that educators must evolve teaching methods to prioritize collaborative problem-solving over traditional instruction.
The academic leader highlighted AI's potential to bridge Global South nations with developed economies through knowledge-sharing platforms. "This technology democratizes innovation capacity," he said, pointing to emerging opportunities in joint research initiatives and cultural exchange programs.
