China, Global South Lead Climate Action Amid Green Transition

As nations grapple with climate challenges, a recent high-level dialogue hosted by CGTN's BizTalk revealed growing momentum for equitable sustainability strategies led by China and Global South partners. China's Special Envoy for Climate Change Liu Zhenmin emphasized "the necessity of technology transfer and capacity-building" to bridge development gaps during the program.

China's Green Tech Pivot:
Liu highlighted China's $890 billion investment in renewable energy in 2023, noting how initiatives like the Belt and Road International Green Development Coalition are sharing low-carbon solutions with developing economies. "Climate governance must respect different national conditions while maintaining high ambition," he stated.

Global South Solidarity:
World Economic Forum's Peter Brabeck-Letmathe acknowledged "the paradigm shift in climate financing," pointing to China-led projects accounting for 40% of new solar installations in Southeast Asia and Africa last year. The discussion underscored how South-South cooperation now drives 60% of cross-border clean energy investments.

Road to COP29:
Both experts stressed the urgency of operationalizing the Loss and Damage Fund ahead of November's UN climate conference, with Liu reiterating China's commitment to "building consensus without imposing unilateral standards." The dialogue concluded with calls for streamlined intellectual property frameworks to accelerate green tech adoption worldwide.
