China’s NEV Exports Surge as Industry Eyes Global Expansion

Shanghai set the stage for a pivotal discussion on electric mobility this week as industry leaders gathered at the 2025 Global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Cooperation and Development Forum. With China's auto exports hitting 2.49 million units in the first five months of 2024 – including an 855,000-strong NEV contingent marking 64.6% annual growth – participants charted an ambitious roadmap for sustained international growth.

"This isn't just about volume, but strategic market penetration," noted one automotive solutions provider during panel discussions. While celebrating China's current 34.3% NEV share of total exports, multiple speakers emphasized the need for localized production and supply chain partnerships to navigate evolving trade policies and consumer preferences.

The forum highlighted emerging opportunities in Southeast Asian and European markets, where EV adoption rates continue climbing. However, manufacturers cautioned that maintaining growth requires overcoming logistical challenges and adapting to regional sustainability standards.
