China-U.S. Trade Thaw Ignites Business Rush Amid Uncertainty

A recent easing of trade tensions between China and the U.S. has sparked a surge in cross-border business activity, even as experts caution that long-term stability hinges on sustained cooperation. The shift follows a 90-day tariff adjustment period announced after high-level talks in Geneva last month, with both sides agreeing to roll back select tariffs imposed during years of economic friction.

The London meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism earlier this month reinforced this trend, with analysts noting a growing recognition of mutual interests. \"Both sides now understand that confrontation leads nowhere,\" said Sun Taiyi, a U.S.-based political science professor. \"Cooperation isn’t just preferable—it’s economically imperative.\"

Businesses are already capitalizing on the thaw. Jiang Jiangping, a holiday goods exporter from Yiwu, reported a \"flood of orders\" from U.S. clients, while Fujian furniture trader Lin Wanyi confirmed that 20 previously stalled shipping containers are now moving freely. \"This breather lets us rebuild trust with partners,\" Lin told media.

Despite the optimism, questions linger about what happens after the 90-day window closes. Market analysts advise businesses to remain agile, noting that while reduced tariffs have eased short-term pressures, structural challenges in bilateral relations remain unresolved.
