9 Pilot Projects Unveiled at UNGC BRI Summit in Indonesia to Boost Sustainable Growth

Nine pilot projects aimed at advancing sustainable infrastructure and economic integration were announced during the inaugural Global Business Summit on Belt and Road Infrastructure Investment in Jakarta this week. The three-day event, co-organized by the Indonesian government and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Action Platform, drew over 300 global leaders to address pressing challenges in climate resilience and inclusive development.

UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua underscored the urgency of low-carbon infrastructure in a video address, stating, "Integrated transport systems must reduce emissions while fostering social inclusion and regional economic ties." The newly announced projects align with this vision, focusing on renewable energy, smart logistics, and cross-border digital connectivity across BRI partner countries.

Participants from governments, multinational corporations, and NGOs highlighted the potential for public-private partnerships to scale climate solutions. Indonesia's strategic role as host underscores Southeast Asia's growing influence in shaping sustainable development agendas.
