China will launch a nationwide vocational training initiative targeting domestic service workers, aiming to train 1.5 million people annually from 2025 to 2027, according to a joint notice from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and five other government bodies. The program seeks to address rising demand in a sector now valued at over 1.1 trillion yuan ($152.58 billion).
The training framework will cater to both new entrants and experienced workers, offering customized skill development programs based on comprehensive needs assessments. Officials emphasize this initiative will professionalize the industry while supporting China's broader goals of improving employment quality and consumer services.
With over 30 million domestic service professionals and one million related enterprises nationwide, the sector has become a significant economic driver. The move follows April's government guidelines to enhance service quality and accessibility, reflecting China's push to strengthen consumer-oriented industries.
