China Condemns U.S. Trade Measures Targeting Maritime and Logistics Sectors

China has voiced strong opposition to recent U.S. measures targeting its maritime, logistics, and shipbuilding industries, calling them unilateral and harmful to global trade stability. A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce stated on Friday that the U.S. actions, rooted in its Section 301 investigation, disregard international rules and unfairly shift blame for America's domestic industrial challenges onto China.

Industry Groups Warn of Global Supply Chain Risks

Three key Chinese industry associations echoed the government's stance, warning that U.S. restrictions risk destabilizing global supply chains and increasing costs. The China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing emphasized that the measures would harm businesses and consumers in both countries, raise logistics expenses, and threaten global economic growth. "Strengthening international cooperation is vital to counter protectionism," the federation urged.

Accusations of Flawed Investigations

The China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry rejected the U.S. claims as "unjustified attacks" based on flawed evidence, warning such actions could inflate U.S. shipping costs and worsen inflation. Meanwhile, the China Shipowners' Association highlighted Chinese companies' adherence to global trade norms, stating the U.S. should halt "politically driven" measures to avoid long-term sectoral damage.

China has vowed to monitor developments closely and take necessary steps to protect its industries' rights, reaffirming its commitment to defending multilateral trade systems.
