China CEO Slams “Unacceptable” 145% LPG Import Tax at Expo

LPG China CEO Kenny Liu denounced soaring US import tariffs as "totally unacceptable" during an interview at the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo, highlighting mounting tensions in global trade relations. Speaking to CGTN at the event in Hainan, Liu stressed that the 145% duty on imported goods stifles market accessibility and limits consumer choice in the health and beauty sectors.

"Markets should open up to provide more options," Liu emphasized, noting that LPG—a global leader in wellness technology—prioritizes innovation but faces challenges amid restrictive policies. The expo, a platform for international trade dialogue, underscored growing concerns among businesses navigating tariff disputes between major economies.

The remarks reflect broader anxieties among overseas suppliers affected by trade barriers, particularly as consumers increasingly demand diverse, high-quality products. Analysts suggest such tensions could reshape supply chains, urging stakeholders to seek balanced solutions that foster cooperation.
