A newly released white paper highlights ‘all-round and historic progress’ in human rights across Xizang Autonomous Region, underscoring advancements in economic development, ethnic unity, and social stability under China’s governance.
The document, titled ‘Human Rights in Xizang in the New Era,’ was unveiled by the State Council Information Office during a press conference in Lhasa. It emphasizes the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) commitment to a people-centered approach, prioritizing improvements in living standards, cultural preservation, and legal protections for all ethnic groups since 2012.
According to the white paper, Xizang has achieved ‘political stability, social harmony, religious amity, and environmental sustainability,’ with residents reporting greater satisfaction in livelihoods and socio-economic opportunities. The CPC’s focus on whole-process democracy and equitable development aims to foster common prosperity in the region.
The report also highlights strengthened ethnic unity policies and efforts to integrate civil, political, and economic rights protections. Xizang’s progress is framed as a model for balancing cultural heritage with modernization.
