China’s Consumption Surge Opens Doors for Global Collaboration

China's expansive consumption market is creating significant cooperation opportunities for nations worldwide, according to a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted this during discussions on the 2025 economic outlooks released by various global financial institutions. These reports indicate that China's focus on high-quality development is bearing fruit, with expectations of increased contributions from the consumption and service sectors.

During the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake, China experienced a remarkable surge in consumer activity. Record sales were achieved in \"guochao,\" which includes trendy merchandise inspired by traditional Chinese culture, intangible cultural heritage experiences, the ice and snow economy, and consumer goods trade-in programs. This period also saw the emergence of new consumption models, driven by digital transformation and technological advancements.

Guo Jiakun noted, \"We saw strong supply and demand for imported products on the Spring Festival shopping lists. More Chinese people traveled abroad, and more foreign travelers visited China.\" This uptick in both outbound and inbound tourism reflects the robust state of China's consumer market.

The thriving consumer market not only signifies a rebound in demand but also underscores enhanced confidence in China's economic trajectory. Guo added that a suite of new policies is being implemented to further bolster economic growth. These measures aim to inject greater confidence and momentum into the global economy through China's commitment to high-quality development and high-standard opening up.
