China's massive consumption market is creating significant opportunities for countries worldwide, according to a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun shared these insights while discussing 2025 economic forecasts from various global financial institutions. These forecasts indicate that China's focus on high-quality development is beginning to pay off, with consumption and the service sector expected to take up a larger share of the economy.
During the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake, China experienced a surge in consumer activity. Sales reached record highs in \\"guochao\\" — a trend that combines traditional Chinese culture with modern consumerism — as well as in experiences related to intangible cultural heritage, the ice and snow economy, and consumer goods trade-in programs. This period also saw the emergence of new consumption models, spurred by digital innovations and technological advancements.
\\"We observed strong demand for imported products on Spring Festival shopping lists. Additionally, more Chinese residents traveled abroad, and a greater number of international visitors came to China,\\" Guo noted.
The robust performance of China's consumer market highlights not only a rebound in demand but also a growing confidence in the nation's economic trajectory, he added.
Guo emphasized that a series of new policies are being implemented to further strengthen China's economic growth. These measures aim to boost global economic development by promoting high-quality growth and open standards.
