Chinese Mainland Machinery Trade Group Criticizes US 10% Tariffs as WTO Breach

The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) has strongly opposed the United States' recent decision to impose an additional 10-percent tariff on goods imported from the Chinese mainland.

In a statement, CCCME condemned the unilateral imposition of tariffs, labeling it a serious violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. The trade group emphasized that this move not only fails to address the United States' own economic challenges but also undermines normal economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.

Highlighting the close trade exchanges between the Chinese mainland and the United States, CCCME noted the tangible benefits these interactions have delivered to businesses and consumers on both sides. The organization warned that the new tariffs will directly increase costs for enterprises, disrupt supply chain stability, and have adverse effects not only on Chinese exporters but also on U.S. importers and consumers.

\"Trade is not a zero-sum game, and win-win cooperation is the right way to develop,\" CCCME stressed in their statement.

The Chinese mainland machinery trade group called on the United States to abandon trade protectionism, resolve differences through dialogue and consultation on an equal footing, and collaborate to maintain an open, fair, and stable international trade order.
