China’s 2025 Spring Festival Sees Record Tourism and Spending

The 2025 Spring Festival holiday, spanning from January 28 to February 4, marked a significant surge in both tourism and consumer spending across China.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a staggering 501 million domestic trips were undertaken during the eight-day holiday, reflecting a 5.9 percent increase compared to the previous year. This uptick highlights the growing domestic tourism trend and the public's eagerness to celebrate the festival through travel.

In addition to the rise in travel, total domestic spending reached an impressive 677 billion yuan ($93 billion), showcasing a 7 percent year-on-year growth. This increase underscores the robust consumer confidence and the thriving economic activities fueled by the Spring Festival celebrations.
