China Designates PVH Corp. and Illumina as Unreliable Entities

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday that it has added two U.S. firms, PVH Corp. and Illumina, to its unreliable entity list. This decision comes after the companies were found to have violated normal market trading principles, terminated regular trade with Chinese companies, and adopted discriminatory measures against Chinese businesses, thereby severely harming their legitimate rights and interests.

The Ministry stated that this action was taken to maintain national sovereignty, security, and development interests in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. As part of the unreliable entity list mechanism, China will implement corresponding measures against PVH Corp. and Illumina based on these laws.

In response to media inquiries, a spokesperson for the Ministry emphasized that China has been prudent in handling matters related to the unreliable entity list, targeting only foreign entities that disrupt market rules and violate Chinese laws. The spokesperson reassured that foreign entities operating with integrity and in compliance with the law have no reason for concern.

The Chinese government reiterated its welcome to enterprises from around the world to invest and conduct business in China, committing to providing a stable, fair, and predictable business environment for foreign companies that adhere to laws and regulations.
