China Experiences Surge in Cross-Border Trips During 2025 Spring Festival

During the 2025 Spring Festival holiday, China witnessed a significant surge in cross-border travel, as many ports across the country experienced peak inbound and outbound passenger flows over the past two days, according to China Media Group (CMG) reports on Saturday.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan cross-sea passage has been bustling since the start of the holiday, handling a total of 333,900 vehicles. Daily traffic volume reached an impressive 95,400 vehicles, highlighting the increasing mobility of residents during the festive season.

Border inspection agencies in Shenzhen processed over 2.1 million cross-border trips during the first four days of the Spring Festival, marking a 9.4 percent increase compared to the previous year, CMG reported. This uptick reflects the growing enthusiasm for travel and cross-border exchanges among the people.

Hekou County in southwest China's Yunnan Province, bordering Vietnam, also experienced a peak in cross-border passenger numbers. Many Vietnamese tourists entered China through Hekou during the holiday period, contributing to the vibrant cultural and economic exchanges between the neighboring regions.

The surge in cross-border travel during the Spring Festival underscores China's expanding connectivity with its neighbors and the increasing desire of people to explore and engage with different cultures during traditional festivities.
