Global Leaders Unite at 2025 WEF Meeting to Foster Cooperation in the Intelligent Age

Davos, Switzerland—Nearly 3,000 participants from 130 countries and regions converged on Davos on Monday for the 2025 edition of the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting. Under the theme “Cooperation in the Intelligent Age,” global leaders are engaging in urgent discussions on fostering collaboration to address shared challenges.

The gathering brings together over 60 heads of state and government, alongside political leaders, business executives, and experts. The focal points of the forum include geopolitical tensions, the accelerating climate crisis, and the rapid technological transformations impacting artificial intelligence and automation in the global economy.

Emphasis on Global Collaboration

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang underscored the importance of cooperation in promoting economic globalization during his address. “Through cooperation to promote economic globalization, we will usher in a more vibrant, advanced, and sustainable new stage,” he stated. “I believe we have the wisdom and capability to find mutually beneficial cooperation through communication and consultation.”

Echoing this sentiment, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen highlighted the necessity of working together to prevent a global race to the bottom. “It is in no one’s interest to break the bonds in the global economy,” she remarked.

Shaping a Sustainable Future

Prior to the opening, WEF Founder Klaus Schwab called for renewed cooperation amidst growing global divisions. “The Annual Meeting 2025 will foster a spirit of cooperation and constructive optimism with the objective of shaping the forthcoming Intelligent Age in a more sustainable and inclusive way,” Schwab said.

Jeremy Jurgens, WEF’s managing director, stressed the significance of strong global governance in the face of rapid technological changes. He acknowledged China’s contributions in economic growth, innovation, and environmental sustainability, emphasizing the importance of inclusive international collaboration.

The forum aims to drive meaningful dialogue, find common ground, and seize opportunities for positive change on today’s most pressing global issues. Participants are expected to explore solutions that not only address immediate challenges but also pave the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future in the Intelligent Age.
