China Stresses Open Dialogue with EU Amid WTO Patent Dispute

China has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open channels of communication with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues, following the EU's recent complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO). On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce emphasized that dialogues with the EU are \"always open,\" underscoring the importance of cooperation in addressing intellectual property concerns.

The statement came after the EU filed a complaint regarding China's judicial measures on standard essential patent disputes. The Ministry of Commerce acknowledged receiving a consultation request from the EU on January 20, responding to media inquiries about the matter.

\"China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its commitments upon accession,\" the ministry stated. \"We have continually improved legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights, and our achievements have been widely recognized.\"

The ministry added that China will handle subsequent proceedings in accordance with WTO regulations, firmly safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. The emphasis on open communication suggests a willingness to engage with the EU to resolve disputes amicably.

The ongoing dialogue highlights the significance of intellectual property protection in fostering international trade and collaboration. As major global economies, both China and the EU play pivotal roles in shaping the standards and practices that govern international commerce.
