China has announced that communication channels with the European Union (EU) on intellectual property issues remain open, signaling a willingness to engage in dialogue amidst recent tensions. On Monday, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce emphasized its commitment to constructive discussions with the EU regarding intellectual property rights (IPR).
The announcement comes in response to the EU filing a complaint at the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the same day. The EU's complaint addresses China's judicial practices concerning standard essential patent disputes.
Responding to media inquiries, the ministry revealed that China received a consultation request from the EU on January 20. The Ministry of Commerce stated, \"China has strictly adhered to WTO rules and its accession commitments, continuously improving legislation and law enforcement related to the protection of intellectual property rights. Our achievements in this area have been widely recognized.\"
The ministry further affirmed that China will handle subsequent matters in accordance with WTO rules and is determined to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
This development highlights the importance of open dialogue between China and the EU in resolving trade disputes and fostering a cooperative international trade environment.
